PALAUI WAS 60ft foot below the surface of the Pacific, clinging on to a coral outcrop and forced to forget all the rules about never touching the ysl. I, and my fellow divers, had no choice: the current was racing over us so fast that I was convinced my mask was going to be torn off.

Just off the coral shelf, a large school of more than a 100 silvery barracuda hung effortlessly in the current which rendered me so helpless.
